Gauteng rocked by another deadly tavern shooting

One person was shot dead at Monaco tavern in Mamelodi, Pretoria in the early hours of Monday, Gauteng police said.

“Three suspects wearing balaclavas and armed with pistols arrived at the venue, finding a group of people sitting around. The trio fired in the air before approaching the 33-year-old man and shooting him twice,” police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said.

Sello said the motive for the shooting was still unknown and that a case of murder was opened.

This comes at the backdrop of a bloody weekend which led to the death of 19 patrons at different taverns in the country.
