Trevor Noah has clapped back with a lengthy response at an offensive post made by Kanye West.
The South African comedian landed on the rapper’s Instagram “hit-list” after he called him out on an episode of The Daily Show.
In it, Trevor expressed his concern at Ye “harassing” his estranged wife Kim Kardashian, even comparing the scenario to domestic abuse endured by his own mother.
But what followed was completely unexpected. Kanye clapped back at the Mzansi-born star in a racially-charged post and was subsequently banned by Instagram for 24 hours.
Trevor Noah has since shared his thoughts on Ye’s post, including what he thinks about being called a “koon”.
TREVOR NOAH RESPONDS TO KANYE
In Kanye’s since-deleted Instagram post, Trevor Noah took to the comments section to respond. His lengthy response was screenshot and leaked onto Twitter.
In it, Trevor Noah reflects on being a big fan of Kanye, up until now, that is.
He also revealed his motive behind what he said on The Daily Show. He posted in part: “I’d rather be the idiot who spoke up and said something to you in life, than the cool guy who said nothing and then mourns for you in prison or the grave.
“You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this. I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain,” he continued.
On the issue of being called a “koon” – a racial slur with deep-rooted history – Trevor reminded Kanye not to forget the bigger picture.
He continued: “Oh and as for Koon … clearly some people graduate but we still stupid. Don’t ever forget, the biggest trick racists ever played on black people was teaching us to strip each other of our blackness whenever we disagree. Tricking us into dividing ourselves up in splinters so that we would never unite into a powerful rod.”
