Bonginkosi Dlamini popularly known as Zola 7 is a South African rapper and musician, and he’s also known for his show “Zola 7” that played on SABC.
Zola 7 has been trending on Twitter since his sickness became public, it was said that the artist is suffering from epilepsy and fans have been supporting him ever since to try and get him back on his feet.
His fans went as far as asking him for his banking details, so they can donate money to him. This is obviously a good gesture, but not everyone sees it like that.
Nota wasn’t too pleased with how people were praising Zola for helping people in the past, and he felt the need to set the record straight.
He took to twitter to express this in a post where he said “Let’s get facts straight… #Zola7 the TV was created & owned by the SABC. The SABC went out there & helped all those people. Zola was just a presenter. He helped himself. So much so the show ended up getting cancelled because of his behaviour. He’s the reason it didn’t come back!”
See tweet below:
Some people started bringing up the bad things Zola has done, including GBV allegations and spitting on a fan in Boksbag.
Another tweep didn’t understand why NOTA was saying all this, so he asked why he was telling people that and what’s his point.
Nota replied with, “My point is don’t give human beings too much credit. The praise #Zola7 got went to his head & the show was cancelled. Who lost out except those who needed the help? Ntsiki Mazwai does more to help rape & abuse victims find a voice than Zola did! what has Mamkhize done for people?”
After Nota explained that Zola 7 wasn’t the one helping people and defended Ntsiki a couple of times, a tweep decided to shut Nota up by saying “That maybe true but come on NOTA the man is down and out. We don’t want him to be depressed, please. We can’t lose zola like we lost other stars to depression.”
Even though what Nota was saying may be true, I don’t think this is the right way to do things. I think he could have found a simpler and nicer way to say all these things, and not right now that he’s finally seeking help.
