Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst has been identified as the woman who jumped to her death off a New York high rise building on Sunday.
According to reports, the 2019 winner jumped from her luxury condo and was found dead below.
This after she posted a haunting final message on Instagram.
The New York Post reports that Cheslie Kryst reportedly jumped from the 29th floor of her Orion condo at 07:15. She reportedly left behind a suicide note in which stated that everything she owns be left behind to her mother, also a former beauty pageant winner.
Her family confirmed the news in a statement.
“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed a, andnd she shined.
“Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on EXTRA. But most importantly as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague — we know her impact will live on.”
Miss USA also remembered her fondly in their own tribute posted on Instagram.
It said: “The Miss Universe and Miss USA Organizations are devastated to learn about the loss of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst. She was one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, and she lit up every room she entered. Our entire community mourns her loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”
The organization also encouraged those battling suicidal thoughts to seek professional help.
Cheslie Kryst’s death comes just a few hours after she posted a sombre final Instagram post. The 30-year-old attorney posted a picture of herself with the caption: “May this day bring you rest and peace”.
