Eastern Cape cop allegedly kills girlfriend after she caught him with another woman

An investigation has been opened by The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) against an Eastern cape cop who allegedly shot his girlfriend dead for catching him with another woman.

This happened in Eastern Cape on Sunday morning while the country is observing a 16-days No Violence against Women and Children Campaign.

Ipid spokesperson Grace Langa said they received information that a police officer allegedly shot his girlfriend six times, fatally wounding her.

“It is alleged the girlfriend went to the police officer’s house and she found the boyfriend with another woman sleeping in the house. An argument ensued and then the police officer immediately shot at the woman, who died at the scene.”

Langa said the police officer, from Kanvelihle SAPS, was arrested and the firearm was confiscated.

“Ipid is still collecting information about the deceased and the police officer,” said Langa
