Ismaily were no match for dominant Al Ahly, who found themselves 3-0 up in just a little over 30 minutes, thanks to goals from Ali Maaloul and Percy Tau, before returnee Ahmed Abdelkader made it four just a few minutes before the half-time whistle.
Percy Tau made an immediate impact for the Egyptian giants by scoring a brace as he helped his side thrash Ismily 4-0 in the Egyptian Premiership clash on Wednesday.
Tau thought he had grabbed a hat-trick on his debut, but he had his third of the night ruled out for offside on Mohamed Magdy Afsha in the build-up to the goal.
The former Brighton forward became the first non-Egyptian player to score on his debut since John Antwi, who had netted a superb hat-trick against El-Gouna back in 2015.
Speaking on Tau after the game, Komsan said: “Percy Tau is a very special player, and Pitso Mosimane knows his abilities well. Tau played in the Premier League and has a lot of experience.
“Mosimane gave him an opportunity like all the other players, and the coach won the bet. Tau is a huge addition to us and able to compete with Mohamed Sherif and Hossam Hassan. The variety of options is a win for the team.
“Ahmed Abdelkader is a special player, and he performed well and scored a special goal. We were keen on having him back.
When asked if Mohamed El-Shennawy will miss the Cairo derby, he replied: “This file with the team doctor who will determine his condition.
“El-Shennawy is training well, but he will not participate until he is 100% ready. He is undergoing an intensive program and if he is ready before the derby, it will be a great addition to us.”
Coming victorious in this game, the newly signed Tau is no secret that he wasn’t at his brilliant best at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Lion of Judah, as he’s labelled in the football fraternity, had a debut to remember for the Red Devils of Egypt following his two significant goals netted in just under ten minutes.
His return to Africa, has been criticized by many notable players, such as Sibusiso Zuma, who said Tau downgraded his football career by signing for the Reds.
“I can’t believe that the best Egyptian player plays in EPL for Liverpool, not for Al Ahly, whereby our people regard it as the best move for Tau to join Al Ahly. That was one of the biggest downgrades in football,” said Zuma.
“I won’t lie, it was not a move I enjoyed for a South African Player. Look at his Nigerian friend whom he played with at Club Brugge, he is doing it so well at Watford,” he added.
However, Muzi disappointed many in his first spell for The Nationals, as he continued with his famous baseline of scoring debut goals for every team he joins.
The 27-year-old scored his first goal on his debut for Club Brugge, when he joined the Belgium side in August 2019.
He further made history again when he featured for the RSC Anderlecht, where he netted his debut goal in August 2020.
