Watch as Thabo Mbeki arrives in Johannesburg for a memorial service for a late ANC veteran.

Mbeki and his convoy were seen driving up to the Johannesburg City Hall. The Gauteng province’s premier, Panyaza Lesufi, welcomed him. The presence of former president Jacob Zuma is unknown at this time. The official memorial service honoring the late founding Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Frene Ginwala, was held in Johannesburg, and members of Parliament were spotted coming.

She is being recognized for the part she played in establishing democracy in South Africa. A eulogy for the late speaker is anticipated from President Cyril Ramaphosa. Icon of the anti-apartheid movement passed away at home in Johannesburg at the age of 90.

Numerous speakers are expected to take to the podium and give their speeches in honour of the late ANC veteran. These include, Gauteng Premier and ANC provincial chairperson, Panyaza Lesufi as well as speaker of parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula. Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the late ANC veteran’s name stands out like a “glittering star” and one that should be saluted forever. He adds that she was “made of sterner stuff”.
