Babalwa M Album Review

1. Intro (feat. XolaniGuitars, Kelvin Momo)

Our journey begins with a very unique intro as Babalwa M draws open the curtains for a journey into her Picture Perfect world of Aluta Continua. Kelvin Momo gives us a beautiful Production as we are accustomed to receiving from him, joined by XolaniGuitars who provide additional comfort from stringed instruments.

The voice of Mavusa echoes and bellows as if to usher us into a world crafted and created with nothing but soulful keys and emotional music.

As we come to the end of our Aluta Continua journey, perhaps it is time to close the curtains and turn off the lights. That is exactly what Lalaby is about. The last track on the project is a playful rendition designed to tire you out and put you to a beautiful sleep dominated by dreams of the soulful voyage which you have embarked on.

Lalaby greets listeners with gleeful allure and draws them to a worthy crescendo. Aluta Continua is an album we will never forget for it’s nature, it’s production and it’s creators.

Kudos to the gents who made it happen, and the wonderful Lady who brought us this gift, Babalwa Mavusa.

From here onward, it gets very soulful, beautiful and emotional. But rest assured, you are about to embark on a journey that will leave you in Awe of good music.

2. Ungazilibali

3. So Mila (feat. Kelvin Momo)

4. Ksasa Lam

5. Sweeter

Here is another hit song from Babalwa M’s new album, Aluta Continua. In the grand scheme of things, Mavusa’s voice and lyrical prowess have been well suited for the soulful side of music. Since her introduction two years ago, it has been one hit after another from the singer.

6. Suka (feat. Kelvin Momo)

Halfway through Aluta Continua and it becomes even more evident that Momo’s touch is stamped all over the project and that the combination of Babalwa M’s vocals and Kelvin Momo’s production is a match made in Piano Heaven.

Writer: Babalwa Mavuso

Composer: Thato Kelvin Letwaba

Makwande (feat. YUMBS, Kelvin Momo)

Momo alone on production is a blessing, Babalwa with her lyrics of even fire. But when you combine all that talents and vocals with the penmanship of YUMBS, what you get is Makwande. A song crafted to lifts spirits.

The second half of Babalwa’s Aluta Continua begins with a huge bang and despite being halfway through this journey listeners will still yearn for more, and more they shall get.

8. Aluta Continua

It is not until track number 8 that we encounter the album’s titular song. Once again it’s all about the production from Kelvin “Momo” Letwaba. With every strike of the Log drum, with every chord you hear and every piano key resonating from the song you can tell that Momo mean business. The songstress is given all that she needs to bless and boy does she bless us with her voice.

Aluta Continua was first played over a year ago during Momo’s Lockdown session and despite the impatience of fans, it has taken more than a year for it to finally be heard.

9. Jaiva

10. Ama’Film (feat. Mphow69 & Kelvin Momo)

Ama’Film features additional production insights from Mphow69. It won’t be the first meeting between Kelvin Momo and Mphow69 but it will be one that we will remember for a long time. Ama’Film is features a smooth soulful production from the gents, laced with striking vocals and lyrics from Babalwa M.

As we near the end of our Aluta Continua Journey, we reflect on what we have heard so far and forge ahead to the finish line with more enthusiasm because it has been a well-thought-out and soulful journey.

11. Picture Perfect

The penultimate song in our Voyage meets us with Picture Perfect, a song that quite in one word sums up what we have encountered thus far. Aluta Continua is a Picture Perfect album and on this track the singer highlights her satisfaction with how far she has come in the industry.

Picture Perfect is a song of gratitude as well as a song of hope. As the lyrics rightly points out, “I Hope there are days when your coffee tastes like magic” , “I Hope there are days when strangers make you smile.”

12. Lalaby
