RIP: SA Hip Hop loses Nish to Covid-19 (Life, Biography, Awards, Death)



The South African Hip Hop fraternity mourns the death of rapper and Skwatta Kamp member Musawenkosi “Nish” Molefe,

Nish Born Musawenkosi Molefe in August 20, 1978DiedFebruary 5, 2021 (aged 42). He died as a result of covid-19.

Musawenkosi “Nish” Molefe was a South African musician and a member of the hip hop group Skwatta Kamp. He died on 5 February 2021.

His Educational Background
Nish attended John Orr Technical High School, and left to focus on his musical career.

Musical Career

His career kickstarted in 2002 when he joined the group Skwatta Camp, a South African Hip Hop group. They released their debut album titled Shut En John, later followed by Mkhukhu Funkshen in 2003, which sold for over 25,000 copies.

In 2004, they released another project titled Washumkhukhu in 2004, which they delayed for over 5 years before dropping another project titled Fair and Skwear.

In early 2018, Skwatta Kamp released, There you go a song dedicated to celebrate Flabba’s life. On 10 November 2018, the group released a single, titled Mama Akekho, leading up to their album release in 2019.


As part of Skwatta Kamp, Nish won numerous awards including two SAMA Awards for best rap album and a CHANNEL O best hip hop music video award.


Musawenkosi “Nish” Molefe died on 5 February 2021. He became the second member from the group Skwatta Kamp who has passed. The cause of death was confirmed as Covid-19.

Mzansi has been pouring out tribute to the friends and family z who are currently living in so much pain of losing Legend.

Musawenkosi “Nish” Molefe was a member of the 2-time SAMA Best Rap Album award winning group Skwatta Kamp.

Many Hip Hop fans fell in love with Hip hop because of Skwatta Kamp and that awakened alot inside of them out pouring emotional condolences.

It’s a sad day for hip hop, RIP Nish, may your soul rest in peace. Love and light to his family and friends.
